ILA #4 Concussions in NFL

NFL concussions were decreasing, but last season there were more concussions in the NFL than ever before. While the NFL is still working on protecting its players and limiting concussions, concussions are at an all-time high. Frontline has done a lot on concussions in the NFL and they have studied the change in concussions over the past few years. This chart looks at the amount of concussions that happen each season in the NFL. It shows the decline over recent years and last years’ rise in concussions. This information can be used to look at what was done different last year compared to previous years, and why the increase in concussions is happening so they can start to make football safer.

This chart looks at the amount of concussions per position across the 2015 season. Using this data the NFL can look at ways to make it safer for the positions that are impacted the most like defensive backs and wide receivers. They have taken steps to protecting these players with better helmets for when contact is made to the head.
